Import Export Permits
If you intend importing or exporting goods into/out of South Africa, you are going to require an import export permit.
We strongly suggest you ensure you have your permits approved and on file before you place your first order to ensure there are no unforeseen, costly surprises down the line.

What are the implications if I do not have an import export permit and my consignment arrives at the designated port?
Custom officials will not release your consignment until such time as you produce a valid import export permit. This delay will lead to you incurring additional storage fees, calculated on a daily basis.
How long does it take to obtain an import export permit?
We generally receive approval with 48 Hours after an application has been lodged and a case number is provided.
Do I need to register as a VAT vendor first before I apply for my import export permit?
No. The only compulsory requirement is the company must be registered for income tax.
Do I have to renew my permit every year?
No, there is currently no annual renewal policy applicable to import export permits
